HARRIS, Welsey (fl. 1879-80) of Belleville, Ont. transformed the Dafoe House Hotel, Pinnacle Street at Bridge Street, BELLEVILLE, ONT., 1879, by adding a full mansard roof and an additional floor of rooms, with a dining room extension facing Bridge Street (Daily Intelligencer [Belleville}, 16 Dec. 1879, 1, descrip.). He also designed an elaborate residence on Commercial Road (now Highland Avenue) at Bridge Street West for James W. Dunnett, BELLEVILLE, ONT., 1879. The design was commended '...for nicety of architecture and general appearance it compares favourably with any of the principal residences in the city' (Daily Intelligencer [Belleville], 16 Dec. 1879, 1, descrip.)
