DAVIS, William Thraves (1882- 1954), a partner in Winnipeg, Man. with John S. Hooper in 1914-15 (see list of works under Hooper & Davis). Born in Nottingham, England on 26 May 1882, he emigrated to Canada in 1905 and appears in Winnipeg in 1910. In 1912 he was credited with the design of the Transcona Telephone Exchange Building, Victoria Avenue, TRANSCONA, MAN. (Winnipeg Tribune, 21 June 1912, 8, descrip.). He was a member of the Manitoba Assoc. of Architects from 1920, and also held a membership with the Ontario Assoc. of Architects (an indication that he may have executed work in that province). He resigned from the O.A.A. in 1945 and died in Ottawa on 5 July 1954 (death notice Ottawa Journal, 5 July 1954, 24; inf. Ontario Assoc. of Architects, Toronto).
