KENT, Edwin Simson (1885-1974), active as an architect in Bangor, Maine. He was the son of Edward Austin Kent of Buffalo, N.Y. Born in Brewer, Maine on 18 October 1885, he may have trained under his father while living in Buffalo, but after the death of his father in the Titanic disaster in April 1912, he returned to Maine and continued to practise there and in nearby Brewer, Maine. In 1929 he collaborated with architects in Montreal to design The Chateau Montebello Hotel, on the site of the historic Chateau Papineau, which was converted to the Lucerne-in-Quebec Seigniory Club. He also designed the nearby Railway Station which served as the terminus for tourists visiting the site by train. E.S. Kent died in Portland, Maine in July 1974.
