Legg, Harry Gale

LEGG, Harry Gale (1884-c. 1913) was active in Waterloo County, Ontario where he designed a number of commercial buildings in Galt and Preston, including the Wirshing Block at Preston, Ont., one of the first buildings in the region to be constructed of reinforced concrete. Born on 19 September 1884, he may have obtained his architectural training and experience in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, but by June 1913 he had moved to Ottawa to join the staff of the Public Works Department, where he worked under the supervision of David Ewart (Canada, Sessional Papers, 1919, Report No. 30, Civil Service List, 431-35).
