Myers, George W.

MYERS, George W. (1864-1938), architect of Detroit, Mich., was the son of Elijah E. Myers (1830-1909), a leading architect in that city. His son was born in Illinois on 22 April 1864 and he likely trained under his father in the period from 1880 onward. In 1885 both had formed a partnership of E.E. Myers & Son, but by 1891 both father and son were operating separate offices in the Moffat Building in Detroit. By 1900 George Myers was practising from his own office in Detroit in the Chamber of Commerce Building. After the death of his father in 1909, George continued to work under his own name and later died in Detroit on 3 June 1938 (obit. Detroit Free Press, 4 June 1938, 19).
