McIntyre, Hugh Alexander

McINTYRE, Hugh Alexander (1902-1952), active in Toronto and later in Ottawa, Ont. where he was responsible for all of the architectural work done by the Air Services Branch of the federal Dept. of Transport in Ottawa from 1944 until his death in that city on 28 February 1952. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and studied architecture at the Univ. of Toronto from 1919 to 1924. He joined the engineering firm of James, Proctor & Redfern in Toronto in August 1924, overseeing the architectural design and construction of many industrial, municipal and residential works. McIntyre moved to Ottawa in 1940 and became a member of the Airways Engineer Section of the Dept. of Transport, and later headed their Air Services division of the Department for all of Canada (death notice Ottawa Journal, 29 February 1952, 28; obituary R.A.I.C. Journal, xxix, May 1952, 158).
