Poulin, Joseph Aime

POULIN, Joseph Aime (1889-1952) was born in Lambton, Beauce County, Que. on 8 May 1889 and educated at St. Charles Borromee Seminary in Sherbrooke. He received his architectural training under J.W. Gregoire and Louis N. Audet in Sherbrooke, and later, with the firm for Ouellette & Levesque in Quebec City, and commenced practise under own name in Sherbrooke in 1924. In 1942 he invited his son Albert Poulin (1915- ) to form a partnership, and they continued to practise until the death of J. Aime Poulin in 1952. His son continued the activity of the office until 1969 and later formed the new partnership of Audet, Tremblay & Poulin (1969-75). J.A. Poulin died in Sherbrooke on 8 March 1952 (obit. Province of Quebec Assoc. of Architects; Ontario Assoc. of Architects). The Archives Nationales du Quebec in Sherbrooke holds a large collection of architectural drawings by the firm of J. Aime Poulin, and by Poulin & Poulin, dating from 1924 through 1970.
