Tomlinson, George

TOMLINSON, George (1860-1930), born and educated in Ottawa, Ont., and for many years a staff architect at the offices of the Grand Trunk Railway, and the Canadian National Railway. He also appears to have been working independently. In 1893 he prepared the plans for a substantial residence costing $10,000, built for Edson J. Chamberlain, located at the corner of Metcalfe Street and Ann Street, OTTAWA, ONT. (C.R., iv, 14 Sept. 1893, 2). In 1911-12 he was recorded as the architect for a shop and dwelling on Kent Street, OTTAWA, ONT., for the client ‘Mr. H. Martin” (C.R., xxv, 15 Nov. 1911, 61; 13 Dec. 1911, 121). Tomlinson died in Toronto on 16 June 1930 (obit. Mail & Empire [Toronto], 17 June 1930, 4)
