Sweezy, Larremore V.V.

SWEEZY, Larremore Van Velsor (1882- 1953) of New York City, N.Y. was born there on 4 December 1882 and studied architecture at Columbia University. He trained under Jardine, Kent & Jardine, and under Bannister & Schell, both of New York, and opened his own office in Manhattan in 1907. He was active there until after 1928, and later moved to Northport, Long Island. In Canada, only one project by Sweezy has been located, a landmark 4 storey residential project called the “77 Wellesley Street Apartments“, Wellesley Street East at Church Street, TORONTO, ONT. 1926-27; still standing in 2022 (C.R., xl, 16 June 1926, 60; and xli, 22 June 1927, 622-23, illus. & descrip.; City of Toronto b.p. 89901, 28 May 1926; P. McHugh, Toronto Architecture: A City Guide, 1985, 175, illus.). No information has been found on his activity after 1950.
