Kennedy, James [Montreal]

KENNEDY, James ( -1950) was employed as the chief draftsman in the Montreal firm of Ross & MacDonald in the early 1920's. By 1928 he was practising under his own name. In 1933 he prepared a modernist design for the Sun Oil Co. auto service station on Van Horne Avenue in OUTREMONT, QUE. (Outremont b.p. 2870, 2 June 1933). In 1946 he designed a major addition to the Holt Renfrew Store, Sherbrooke Street West at Mountain Street, MONTREAL, QUE. (C.R., lix, March 1946, 132; Montreal, Les Magasins Les Cinemas, 1985, 187-9, illus.). Kennedy died in Montreal on 6 March 1950 (death notice Gazette [Montreal], 7 March 1950, 25)
