Leigh, Ernest Albert

LEIGH, Ernest Albert (1895-1944), active in Toronto, Ont. from 1912 to 1938 and in Owen Sound, Ont. from 1939 onward. Born in Toronto on 8 October 1895 he attended Toronto Technical School and trained with George W. Gouinlock (in 1912-15), and later worked as a draftsman for Thomas Lamb (1918-19), for Sharp & Horner (1919-23), for the architectural department of the Toronto Transit Commission (1923-25), for Horwood & White (in 1925), and for Craig & Madill (1925-27). He opened an office in Toronto in November 1927 and remained there until May 1939 when he moved to Owen Sound. Leigh died at Shelburne, Ont. on 9 October 1944 (obit.
