Leclerc, Albert

LECLERC, Albert (1912-2003), active in Rimouski, Que. from 1943 where he designed a number of commercial buildings and several ecclesiastical projects for the Roman Catholic diocese. Born in Islet Station, Que. on 22 May 1912 he attended college at Ste. Anne de Beaupre and studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Quebec City where he graduated in 1939. After travelling in Europe for two years he returned to Quebec and later opened an office in Rimouski in 1943 (biog. and port. Biographies de Bas St. Laurent, 1960, unpag.). Leclerc died in Quebec City on 14 October 2003 (obit. Le Soleil [Quebec City], 17 Oct. 2003). The Archives Nationales du Quebec in Quebec City holds a collection of his drawings for projects from 1945 to 1980 (dwgs. ANQ, Quebec City, Leclerc Coll. Acc. P 284)
