Kenna, Joseph F.

KENNA, Joseph F. (fl. 1882-89) of Montreal was an obscure figure who frequently advertised in the Montreal Gazette and designed several stone and brick row housing projects for speculative development in west end Montreal and in the Cote St. Antoine neighbourhood of that city. His largest and most elaborate work was the commercial block for Hall & Scott Ltd., in the Italiante style, on Ste. Catherine Street West at McGill College Avenue (1883-84). An unusual engraved perspective drawing of this building, with an extensive architectural description, was published in the Montreal Daily Star, 29 Dec, 1883, 7, in the form of a promotional advertisement for the architect himself.
