Fisken, John Beverly Keith

FISKEN, John Beverly Keith (1888-1936), active in Toronto, Ont. where he was in partnership with George H. Harris (see list of works under Harris & Fisken). Born in Toronto on 20 June 1888 he studied architecture at the School of Practical Science at the Univ. of Toronto, and capably demonstrated his talent as a draftsman and delineator when his "Chapel on a Lake", and his student project for "A Niche for Antiques" were published in 1910 (Construction [Toronto], iii, June 1910, 48, 50, illus.). He spent several years in the office of Darling & Pearson, and later opened his own studio on Scott Street. In 1927 he designed a substantial residence in Rosedale for Daniel O. Towl, Sighthill Drive at Garfield Avenue, TORONTO, ONT. (Toronto b.p. 99233, 26 May 1927). Fisken died at Toronto on 20 July 1936 (obit. C.R., vol. 50, 5 Aug. 1936, 716; obit. R.A.I.C.
