Kelly, William Foster

KELLY, William Foster (1868-1905) of Rochester, N.Y. obtained a commission in 1891 to design St. Vincent Roman Catholic Boys Academy, Bagot Street at William Street, KINGSTON, ONT. (C.R., ii, 18 July 1891, 2; Daily British Whig [Kingston], 28 Sept. 1891, 1, descrip.; Jennifer McKendry, Architects Working in the Kingston Region 1820-1920, 2019, 68, illus.). Born in Waterford, Ireland he was educated at Castlenock College, near Dublin, and upon his arrival in upstate New York he joined the office of J. Foster Warner. His best known works in the Rochester area include several schools designed for the Roman Catholic diocese, particularly St. Michael's School, St. Joseph's School and St. Monica's School.
