Gendron, Arthur

GENDRON, Arthur (1863-1906), active in Montreal, either alone or in partnership with others. As early as 1879 he had displayed his talent as a student at the Ecole de Dessin in Montreal (La Minerve [Montreal], 31 March 1879, 1). Membership records of the P.Q.A.A. confirm that he began to practise in 1886. In April 1887 he was invited by Theo Daoust to form a partnership, and continued to collaborate with him until April 1892 when their firm was dissolved (see list of works under Daoust & Gendron). Gendron continued to work under his own name until late 1894. No references to his work have been found after this date. He died in Montreal on 2 February 1906 (death notice La Presse [Montreal], 5 Feb. 1906, 12)
