Mounsey, Charles Herbert

MOUNSEY, Charles Herbert (1874-1924) was active as an architect in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. He was born in Brighouse, Co. Yorkshire, England in April 1874, but no information on his education or training has been found. He emigrated to Canada in late 1908 and settled in Manitoba where his name was recorded as an architect in the town of Portage la Prairie in 1909-10. Mounsey later died in Winnipeg on 18 March 1924 (obituary Winnipeg Daily Tribune, 22 March 1924, 22), and his obituary refers to him as an "engineer", an indication that he may have abandoned the profession of architecture after leaving Portage la Prairie in order to move to Winnipeg.
