Morrison, H. Dunlap

MORRISON, H. Dunlap (fl. 1913-14) was active in Jersey City, N.J. where he was listed operating his own office at 15 Exchange Place (Comstock's Directory of Architects in the United States & Canada, 1913-14, 80). In 1913 he designed a remarkable ten storey loft building called The Brandeis Building, Phillips Place, MONTREAL, QUE. (C.R., xxvii, 12 March 1913, 63, illus. & descrip.). This slender commercial block, just 29 ft. wide, was clad in tapestry brick and terra cotta, with a facade facing onto Phillips Place and extending nearly 130 ft. to the rear and facing onto Union Avenue in downtown Montreal. Morrison collaborated on the project with Charles Brandeis, a civil and electrical engineer, and the latter may have provided financial backing for the project.
