Morrison, Alexander Innes

MORRISON, Alexander Innes (1886-1962) was born at Grange, Edinburgh, Scotland on 9 May 1886 and graduated from the Victoria School of Architecture. He served his apprenticeship there, and emigrated to Canada after 1910 and settled in Medicine Hat, Alta. where he was in partnership with W.H. Bourne (see works under Bourne & Morrison). Following overseas service during WWI he returned to Canada and opened an office in Campbellton, New Brunswick. In 1923 he designed The Chateau Restigouche, a substantial hotel located on Roseberry Street, CAMPBELLTON, N.B. (C.R., xxxvii, 26 Sept. 1923, 45). He later joined the N.B. Dept. of Public Works as Supervising Architect, and died in Campbellton on 17 January 1962 (obit Campbellton Tribune, 17 Jan. 1962, 1; obituary R.A.I.C. Journal, xxix, April 1962, 77; inf.
