MONTGOMERY, Robert Alexander (1907-1956), partner in the Montreal firm of Barott, Marshall, Montgomery & Merrett. Born in Beebe, Que. on 25 December 1907, he attended Bishop's College School in Lennoxville (1922-26) and later studied architecture at McGill University (1926-31), spending his summers working the office of Barott & Blackader. After graduation he again worked for that firm (in 1933 and in 1935-36), and for C.H. Copeman in 1934, and was later invited by Ernest Barott to form a partnership with L.E.Marshall and J.C. Merrett in 1944. Montgomery died suddenly in Montreal on 29 September 1956 (obit. Gazette [Montreal], 3 Oct. 1956, 39; R.A.I.C. Journal, xxxiv, Dec. 1956, 483; inf.
