Mitchell, John

MITCHELL, John (fl. 1874-75), a talented but obscure figure active in Pembroke, Ont. where he designed a remarkable Gothic commercial block called The Metropolitan Hotel (later the Queen's Hotel), 1874, and the following year prepared an Italianate design for the Public School in that town. His name is also linked to at least one private residence, also in the Italianate style, for Dr. William D. Dixon. No biographical information has been found on the architect (inf.
