Menges, Edwin A.H.

MENGES, Edwin A.H. (1882-1947) was active in Toronto both as an architect and an engineer. Born in Baden, Ont. on 4 May 1882 he took night classes in architecture and engineering at the Toronto Technical School and articled with Toronto firms of Gordon & Helliwell and with Gregg & Gregg. He then spent five years as assistant in the office of the Robert McCallum, City Architect for Toronto. Menges joined the Ontario Association of Architects in 1905 but only a few works can be associated with his name. In 1937 he designed an office and factory for Nuodex Products of Canada, Industrial Street near Laird Drive, in Leaside, TORONTO, ONT. (C.R., l, 21 April 1937, 36). Menges was also a member of the Engineering Institute of Canada, and later became chief engineer for Disher Steel Construction Co. Ltd. He died in Toronto on 5 August 1947 (obit.
