POPE, R.T. (fl. 1879-90), an early architect of the Muskoka region of Ontario and active in the town of Bracebridge where he was 'Provincial Land Surveyor, Architect and Draughtsman' (Guide Book and Atlas of Muskoka and Parry Sound Districts, 1879). One of his pupils was William M. Dodd, who stated that he 'studied architecture for two years with Henry [sic] Pope, Architect & Engineer of Bracebridge, Ont.' (Architectural Inst. Of British Columbia, Application Form No. 73, William M. Dodd).
