Jones, Charles Albert

JONES, Charles Albert (1855 -1936), born on 15 August 1855 in London Township, Ontario. He served an apprenticeship in the office of Samuel Peters & Son and on the death of Samuel P. in February 1882 he joined in a partnership with S. Frank Peters (see list of works under Peters & Jones). In late 1885 Hubert C. McBride was invited to become a third partner in their firm, and together as Peters, Jones and McBride they maintained an office in London until 9 February 1891 when the partnership was dissolved by mutual consent and S. Frank Peters moved to Winnipeg. In London both he and H.C. McBride continued to operate an office (see list of works under McBride & Jones) and were joined in March 1892 by Frederick W. Farncombe, a surveyor by trade. Their practice existed until 1894 when Jones moved to Petrolia, Ont. and commenced his own business as a civil engineer and Ontario land surveyor. He later died there on 17 January 1936 (obituary in Canadian Engineer, lxx, 28 Jan. 1936, 18).
