PIERSOL, George Hunter (1911-1970) was active in Toronto and a partner in the firm of Arthur, Fleury & Piersol (1938-40). Born in Toronto on 19 May 1911, he graduated from the School of Architecture at the University of Toronto in 1934 and articled with Eric Arthur from 1934 to 1936. He joined the Ontario Association of Architects in 1937 and with Eric Arthur and William Fleury formed a partnership in February 1938. After 1940 he worked under his own name, completing a distinctive modernist residence for a retired professor on Douglas Drive, TORONTO, ONT., 1941 (R.A.I.C. Journal, xx, June 1943, 90-1, illus. & descrip.). He also designed a substantial addition and major alterations to the industrial plant for Canada Packers Ltd.. Montcalm Street, HULL, QUE. (C.R., liv, 18 June 1941, 36). Piersol later became supervisor of architecture in the Premises Dept. at the Bank of Nova Scotia, and died in Toronto in July 1970 (inf.
