COMPETITIONS

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y., St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cathedral, Fifth Avenue at 51st Street, design for the addition of a new Lady Chapel, 1901. This international competition elicited dozens of designs from several countries, and Joseph Connolly of Toronto was awarded the Second Prize (Toronto Daily Star, 31 Jan. 1905, 3). His drawings were exhibited in Toronto just 6 weeks after his death in December 1904. The winner was Charles T. Mathews of New York City.
