MONTREAL, QUE., Drill Shed, Craig Street at German Street, 1867. Hutchison was one of at least five architects from Montreal who prepared a design for Montreal City Council (Gazette [Montreal], 8 April 1867, 2, council debate). The winning scheme was submitted by Fowler & Roy, but this decision was later overturned.
OTTAWA, ONT., Departmental and Justice Buildings, 1907. Hutchison & Wood were one of 30 architects from across Canada who submitted a design for this major commission (Evening Journal [Ottawa], 4 Sept. 1907, 1, list of entrants). The juror Edmund Burke ranked their design in 11th Place. The first prize was awarded to E. & W.S. Maxwell of Montreal, but their scheme was never built.
TORONTO, ONT., Masonic Temple, Spadina Road, north of Bloor Street West, 1914. Hutchison Wood & Miller were one of 41 competitors for this major institutional project. They were awarded 3rd Prize of $500 for their scheme (Toronto Star, 17 Feb. 1914, 1). The winning design by Harry P. Knowles of New York City was never built.
