OWENS, William Hyacinth (1892-1975) was active in Sudbury, Ont. where he designed a substantial residence for H. Moses, Spruce Street at Birch Street, 1914 (Sudbury Star, 5 Dec. 1914, 1, illus. in advert.) and the Wilson-Greenwood & Jessop Block, Cedar Street at Elgin Street, 1914-15 (Sudbury Star, 30 Jan. 1915, 1, illus.). He also prepared plans for substantial additions and alterations to Ste Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Beech Street, SUDBURY, ONT., 1914-15, including a new transepts, chancel, vestry, and extension to the nave (Sudbury Star, 27 Jan. 1915, 2, descrip. & illus.; 15 May 1915, 1, illus.). Owens was born at Boston, Mass. on 16 August 1892 but no information has been found on his education or training. He arrived in nothern Ontario in 1914, but appears to have left by late 1915, and returned to the town of Arlington, Mass where he continued to reside until after 1940. He later died at Ventura, Calif. in March 1975.
