Butcher, Thomas

BUTCHER, Thomas (fl. 1890-92) maintained an office in Toronto and designed a substantial hotel for John Sheene, situated at Lakeshore Road and Mimico Avenue, NEW TORONTO, ONT. (Toronto World, 11 Oct. 1890, 7, illus.). In 1892 he prepared plans for a pair of houses for R.C. Wilson, Close Avenue, near King Street West, TORONTO, ONT. (Toronto b.p. 882, 20 June 1892). He was almost certainly the architect of the same name who was recorded as member of the staff of Smith & Gemmell of Toronto in 1888 (Toronto City Directory, 1888, p. 398).
