Buchanan, David

BUCHANAN, David (1835-1900), architect and builder of Liverpool, Nova Scotia, prepared a Second Empire style design for the Masonic Hall, Main Street, LIVERPOOL, N.S., 1872 (Citizen [Halifax], 28 May 1872, 3, descrip.; C.P. De Volpi, Nova Scotia: A Pictorial Record, 1974, plate 144, illus.). He submitted a plan for the town Fire Hall in a similar style in 1892, but his scheme was not accepted by the Town Council (Liverpool Advance, 21 Sept. 1892). Buchanan died at Cambridge, Mass. on 23 March 1900 (obit. Liverpool Advance, 28 March 1900).
