Bott, J.E.

BOTT, J.E. (fl. 1876-77) was the first architect to practise in northern Ontario, where he advertised his services as 'Civil Engineer, Architect and Draughtsman' (Thunder Bay Sentinel [Port Arthur], 20 Jan. 1876, 2, advert.). He designed the Public School, Algoma Street, THUNDER BAY, ONT. in 1876, which was styled '..in the Romanesque, or composite Roman and Norman orders of architecture' and featured a tower and octagonal belfry more than sixty feet in height (Thunder Bay Sentinel [Port Arthur], 24 Feb. 1876, 3, descrip.)
