Black, Donald

BLACK, Donald (fl. 1880-82) was an architect in Boston, Mass. In 1881 he prepared a Gothic design for the Anglican Mission Church of St. John The Baptist, Paradise Row near Mill Street, SAINT JOHN, N.B.. It was said to have contained 'a handsome altar with rich adornments making the chancel particularly attractive' (Saint John Globe, 27 Jan. 1882, 2, descrip.; History of the Mission Church of Saint John Baptist, 1932, 16, 20-21). The local supervision of this ecclesiastical project was carried out by Hurd Peters, a Saint John engineer and architect who provided his services as the Clerk-of-Works.
