Birmingham, William Henry

BIRMINGHAM, William Henry (1911-1997) was born in Toronto on 21 August 1911and attended the University of British Columbia where he graduated in 1933. He then moved to Toronto to attend the School of Architecture at the Univ. of Toronto and graduated there in 1938. His summer work terms were spent training with a number of Vancouver firms including McCarter & Nairne and Sharp & Thompson, and after graduation he worked for C.B.K. Van Norman (in 1938-39) and with Robert McKee (in 1939-40). After serving with the RCAF during WWII he opened his own office in 1945. From 1959 he was partner in the firm of Birmingham & Wood until his retirement in 1995. He died on 30 August 1997 (death notice Vancouver Sun, 3 Sept. 1997, B5; inf.
