Beesley, Percy Montagu

BEESLEY, Percy Montagu (1875-1927) arrived in Moose Jaw, Sask. in July 1899 after spending a term as a staff architect in the Canadian Pacific Railway Co. offices in Montreal (Moose Jaw Times, 4 Aug. 1899, 4 & 8). A native of Warrington, Co. Lancashire, England, he likely received his education and training in England before emigrating to Canada. In 1902 he left Canada and moved to Shanghai, China where he continued to practise architecture for the next twenty-five years. He died in Shanghai on 26 January 1927 (obituary South China Morning Post [Hong Kong], 4 Feb. 1927, 11).
