Beaupre, Donat

BEAUPRE, Donat (1891- c. 1964), born in Montreal, Que. on 26 January 1891, was active in that city where he registered with the Province of Quebec Assoc. of Architects in 1914. In 1922 he accepted the position of City Architect for Montreal and held this post for more than thirty years, making a unique contribution to municipally funded architecture in the Montreal area. One of his best known landmarks is the Levis Tower, a cylindrical stone lookout structure on Ile Ste. Helene, completed in 1936. Beaupre resigned from the P.Q.A.A. in 1964.
