Bartlett, Francis

BARTLETT, Francis (1819-1884) was active in Napanee, Ont. as an architect and builder from c. 1860 until his death there in 1884. He began his career as a builder in Kingston, Ont. from 1850 , but later moved to Napanee after 1860. He advertised his services as an architect there in 1875 (Napanee Express, 15 July 1875, 3, advert.), and his name can be linked several designs for churches in Addington County and Hastings County. He died in Napanee on 31 December 1884 (obituary Daily British Whig [Kingston], 31 Dec. 1884, 2; biog. Jennifer McKendry, Architects Working in the Kingston Region 1820-1920, 2019, 14). His son Fred Bartlett was later active as an architect in Peterborough, Ont.
