BARRETT, Arthur Clarence (1869-1907), was the son of T.B. Barrett of Port Dover, Ont., and was born there on 7 May 1869. After receiving a high school education in that town he served an architectural apprenticeship with David B. Dick of Toronto from 1887 until 1892, and then moved to the United States to work in the office of Bruce Price, the influential New York City architect who had just received the commission for the Chateau Frontenac Hotel in Quebec City. Barrett returned to Hamilton, Ont. to open his own office in 1898, and the following year moved to Toronto to continue his practice. In 1906 he moved to Regina, Sask. and opened an office there. Barrett died suddenly from typhoid fever on 12 October 1907, and was buried at Port Dover, Ont.
