Barratt, William

BARRATT, William was a corporal in the Royal Engineers stationed at Halifax, N.S. in 1864-65 and he prepared several designs for military buildings at the Garrison there. A collection of his architectural plans is held at the Public Archives of Nova Scotia in Halifax (PANS, R.E.O. Q13-R26). He is probably the same ' W. Barratt, Architect and Engineer' who later advertised his office in Saint John, N.B. (Daily Morning News [Saint John], 11 May 1870, 2; McAlpine's Maritime Provinces Directory for 1870-71, 702, 845).
