Barlow, James Robert

BARLOW, James Robert (1881-1949) devoted much of his career to the T. Eaton Co. department store chain for whom he worked as staff architect from 1904 until his death. Born in Surrey, England he trained in London under A.O. Collard and later with Walker & Blomfield. He came to Canada in 1904 and many of the designs for T. Eaton Company stores and warehouses in cities across Canada can be credited to him, along with designs of private houses for several of the directors of the company in the Toronto area.
