Barchard, James Arthur

BARCHARD, James Arthur (1833-1877) of Peterborough, Ont. was active there in 1876 and 1877 and advertised himself as an architect, builder and patent agent, offering to prepare 'Designs, Drawings and Specifications for Churches, School Houses and Private Dwellings' (Peterborough Examiner, 21 Sept. 1876, advert.). Barchard designed a distinctive Italianate mansion for Thomas Menzies, George Street North, PETERBOROUGH, ONT., 1876; demol. 1965 (Peterborough Examiner, 18 May 1876, 3). He died in Peterborough on 2 September 1877 (OA, Peterborough County Wills, 503)
