Arnold, Thomas

ARNOLD, Thomas (1838-1912) of London, England prepared a design for the SAILOR'S HOME, Saint John, New Brunswick, in 1889; his original plans survive in the New Brunswick Museum (MacBeth Papers, Shelf 42, Folder 1, Item 25). He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and studied as a pupil there under the City Architect David Cousin. He moved to London after 1860 and practised there for nearly forty years before returning to his home town in 1900 (obituary in the Journal of the Royal Inst. of British Architects, xix, 27 July 1912, 642; Directory of British Architects 1834-1900, 1993, 24).
