Moisan, Louis

MOISAN, Louis (1815-1881), described as a Master Joiner, Joinery contractor, architect, and general contractor, was active in Quebec City, Que., and there are several architectural drawings signed by him now held at the Archives Nationales du Quebec in Quebec City. A biography and list of works linked to his name as architect appears in A.J.H. Richardson, Quebec City, Architects, Artisans and Builders, 1984, 407-09. Many of the large brick and stone houses erected in the St. Roch and St. Sauveur suburbs in the period from 1840 to 1870 may be attributed to him. A death notice for Louis Moisan 'ecuyer, architecte' appeared in the Journal de Quebec [Quebec City], 3 Aug. 1881, 3.
