Jameson, Reyburn

JAMESON, Reyburn (1875-1949) was active in Vancouver, B.C. from August 1910 until 1912 when he formed a partnership with Creighton E. Duggan, as Jameson & Duggan, Architects. Born in Durban, South Africa on 22 June 1875, he was educated at Durban High School, but his family later moved to Nottingham, England and Jameson articled there with the prominent architect Watson Fothergill in the period from 1895 to 1900. In 1910 Jameson emigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver, but within three years he had left Canada and moved to Brisbane, Australia where he found a position as a draftsman in the Office of City Architect. Working under the direct supervision of City Architect Alfred H. Foster, he was appointed Assistant City Architect and was given the freedom to design and sign drawings for several municipal structures in Brisbane including the Coorparioo Electric Power Station (1930), and the Victoria Park Golf Clubhouse (1931), both designed in a Spanish Mission style. Each building is still standing at the present time (as of 2016). Jameson died in Brisbane on 5 July 1949 (biog. D.
