COMPETITIONS

SIMCOE, ONT., Norfolk County Court House, 1863. An architect named "T. Thomas" [presumably William T. Thomas] was one of 12 architects who submitted designs for this county Court House (Brant Expositor [Brantford], 5 June 1863, 2, report on the competition). His proposal was awarded the Second Prize, and the winning scheme was prepared by John Turner of Brantford.
MONTREAL, QUE., Sun Life Insurance Building, 1889. W.T. Thomas was one of 15 Canadian architects who submitted plans in this architectural competition, and he received Second Prize of $300. for his effort (Montreal Daily Star, 10 Dec. 1889, 8). The winner was Robert Findlay of Montreal.
